How to choose a urology fellowship
A practical framework for comparing training value, supervision and career fit.
Start with the outcome
Define the procedures, patient groups, research methods or academic outputs you need. A prestigious institution is not automatically the best fit if the programme structure does not address that gap.
Compare evidence, not labels
Review operative exposure, clinic responsibility, research time, supervision, duration and former-fellow outcomes when these are published. Treat broad phrases such as “excellent exposure” as claims to clarify.
Ask before committing
Confirm the current intake, named supervisor, case mix, medical-registration route, funding, indemnity and how autonomy is assessed.
This guide is general educational information. Confirm licensing, visa, employment, funding and programme requirements with the relevant institution and authority.
